Bonacci Infrastructure delivered the structural design for the Murrumba Alliance Advanced Water Treatment Plant. Key features of the project included a 76 x 61 x 6.5 metre high post-tensioned bioreactor which was cut into the side of a hill. The tank was designed to be monolithic, with the main stitch joint oriented length-ways to permit crawler crane access for the construction of the two sides.
Other works included clarifiers with piled foundations which were built over an existing silt deposit, a new inlet works and flow attenuation tanks, numerous smaller tanks, and retrofits to existing buildings and facilities.
The project was delivered to the Moreton Bay Regional Council as a “Competitive Alliance” and had a contract value of approximately $192 million.
