Bonacci Infrastructure completed the structural and civil design works for the Point Lookout Wastewater Treatment Plant on Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia. The project was constrained by the remote nature of the site and its material supply limitations which required careful planning of pour sizes and control joints to keep within the capabilities of on-island concrete suppliers.
The design occupied a very compact footprint, and comprised a new membrane bioreactor tank, bunded chemical storage facilities and various buildings. The odour control system was installed on a suspended concrete slab over the top of the membrane bioreactor. Packaged systems were adopted for the remainder of the treatment process.
Civil works included bulk earthworks, stormwater and site drainage, access roads and crane pads.
