Powerlink Multi-Storey Car Park

The Powerlink multi-storey car park is a 450 vehicle on-site parking facility which was constructed in two stages, three years apart. Stage 1 of the works incorporated a two storey, reinforced concrete structure with capacity for 204 vehicles, with upper level cars being protected by a shade structure.

The innovative Stage 2 extension design incorporated a new post-tensioned two storey carpark, a precast concrete panel external ramp arrangement, mini-piles in restricted access locations, and the construction of an additional floor to the original Stage 1 car park. The additional floor utilised a lightweight, composite steel and metal-deck to maintain imposed building loads to acceptable levels.

The appearance of the carpark was augmented with the use of tapered precast columns, cantilevered and expressed free-form stairs, curved façade features and roof mounted fabric shade structures.
