RAAF Base Amberley Stage 3

Bonacci Infrastructure delivered the structural and civil designs for the large RAAF Base Amberley Stage 3 redevelopment which was located on a reactive site at the Amberley Air Force Base.

Client: Australian Government - Department of Defence
Location: Amberley, Queensland, Australia

The project comprised a number of significant facilities including a new Living-In Accommodation (LIA) and Combined Mess, a Mechanical Equipment Operation and Maintenance Section (MEOMS) facility, an aviation fuels complex, a physical fitness facility, an HQ combat support group facility and new passive defence augmentation.

Being on a reactive site, Bonacci Infrastructure utilised a raft foundation system with subgrade replacement for virtually all of the facilities. This afforded significant savings to the project by eliminating more traditional and expensive deep pile foundations.
